Chimney, flue & Wood burner maintenance
Chimney flue cleaning (sweep)
A good old fashioned chimney clean, using rod and brush in either 150mm or 100mm diameter.
Top down or bottom up? Traditionally un~flued brick chimneys were cleaned from top down. Modern wood burners are designed for bottom up cleaning, where the promet & baffle is removed and cleaned.
Access to your roof when possible, is still required for cowl inspection and cleaning, installing bird wire around your cowl and general maintenance.
Extraction of carbon and creosote build up is extracted with an industrial vacuum and removed from your property.
Fire brick replacement
Fire bricks help to provide a more efficient burn and produce optimum heat to keep us warm.
Fire bricks are a manufacturer requirement for your wood fire to operate at the standard to which it was constructed & tested.
Bricks are designed to withstand extreme temperatures while protecting the steel sides of your wood heater from excess temperatures.
Over time, generally 2 - 4 seasons, your brick require replacement.
While undertaking your wood burner assessment we determine the quality and life expectancy of your fire bricks and if required arrange replacements.

Promet baffle replacements
A metal promet sits within your wood burner at the top of the fire box.
The promet usually has fabric baffles bolted in place and together they act as insulation, directing the fire to maximise heat out put and deflect smoke up your flue.
There are varying styles of promets and we assess the condition of yours and advise whether any maintenance or upgrading is required.
